The Resemblance of Angels

She resembles an angel of both lightness and dark.
Two different personalities, her own personal demons.
Some see her as a carefree spirit, looking out for those who are helpless against our society.
Few see her in her dark state, the times when asking, “Are you okay?” makes everything worse.
Even fewer see both sides, those two angels intertwined together.

Her exterior displays a halo of curls, and progressing perfect smile.
The attire she wears is her own expression, carefully placed, each with a purpose.
Can you see a silver outline, a shadow or a veil?
They sometimes catch in the light, those fragile wings of hers.
So pure, like expensive lace, soft and white.
Be careful not to touch, you just may tear them.

Look into her eyes, the dark brown mirrors of her past.
Do you see anything, can you break the lock on those watery vaults?
To watch her thoughts and secrets roll by like an old black and white film, do you dare to ponder and transcribe them for the world to see?
Can you swim through poison bloodlines to the center of her broken heart?
Cracked porcelain enduring years of hurt and happy combinations, some never fully understood.
Those wings of her’s turn black, invisible against the starless night sky.
She has fallen from grace, weighed down on tainted wings.

Her two angels collide, entangled in fiery passion, melting and fusing together.
They are what she is, her composure and her will to live.
She is loved, by many or few the answer is unknown, but she loves back regardless.
For some it may be temporary, a short lived friendship or romance.
For a select few it is unconditional puppy love, the feeling of compassion that will never subside.

She will never be tamed, merely momentarily seduced by the need for control, someone to take charge.
Her free spirit is only captured when it wants to be, the dove is never your’s to keep under lock and key.
When the time is right, this angel will spread her majestic wings and fly, to forever be with the one who loves her for who she is, the only one who never tried to change her.

January 2008

I wrote this poem for a school assignment and I really quite fond of it. It is all about me, and how I resemble something. As you can see, I resemble a light and dark angel.
